The Plunge: Your Identity in Christ
We all have stories—personal struggles, wins, and growth. But as Christians, it’s more than that. Our story isn’t just about us. We’re part of God’s massive narrative, a story that didn’t start when we were born and doesn’t end when we die. It’s eternal. It started before time and runs forever.
Scripture gives us glimpses of the unseen, where the visible and invisible worlds meet. Through Christ, we’re pulled into that larger story. We’re not just here for ourselves —we’re part of God’s work to redeem and restore everything. We’re a chosen people, a royal priesthood, meant to reflect God’s light in both seen and unseen realms.
1 Peter 2:9 reminds us who we are: “A chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession.” Our identity isn’t just personal salvation. We’ve been pulled out of darkness for a reason—to reflect God’s glory and join His mission of redemption.
We’re part of God’s unfolding plan. Raised with Christ, seated in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). Co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). What we do resonates far beyond what we see.
Throughout Scripture, we catch glimpses of God’s divine council—a spiritual assembly governing the universe (Psalm 82). Through Christ, we’re part of that. Ephesians 2:6 says we’ve been “raised up with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly places.” Our story doesn’t just play out here—it stretches into the unseen. We’re given authority to advance God’s kingdom and push back the darkness. We’re active participants in His cosmic mission.
Genesis 1:26-27 says we’re created in God’s image. It’s not just about reflecting His character; it’s about getting involved in His mission. We’re called to bring order, to step into the chaos, and to work alongside God.
We’re being conformed to the image of His Son. Our story is about who we’re becoming. We’re being transformed into Christ’s likeness, woven into God’s bigger plan to redeem everything.
Knowing who we are in Christ changes the story. Your life isn’t just a personal journey—it’s part of God’s eternal narrative, stretching through both visible and invisible worlds.
Authority in the Story: Step into the authority Christ has given you. Luke 10:19 tells us, “I’ve given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy.” That authority is for spiritual warfare. You’re part of God’s kingdom, fighting battles seen and unseen.
Living as Image-Bearers: Your story reflects God’s. Every action and every decision becomes part of His narrative. You bring His light to the world through your daily choices.
Joining God’s Mission: You’re here for more than just surviving. You’re here to be part of God’s mission. Spread the gospel, disciple others, and live out kingdom values. Your story helps build God’s kingdom.
Reflection:
What story are you telling yourself about your identity? How does being part of God’s grand narrative change that? How can you live out your role as an image-bearer in everyday life, knowing you’re part of something bigger? How will you step into your spiritual authority and join God’s mission?
Application:
This week, reflect on your place in God’s eternal story.
Meditate on 1 Peter 2:9 and Ephesians 2:6. Ask God to show you how your story fits into His bigger plan.
Your story? It’s not just about you. It’s part of God’s unfolding plan for His kingdom.
In Christ, engage, adapt, and overcome.
