The Plunge: Our Spiritual State
Welcome to The Plunge, your daily dive into Christian Wellness.
Today, weâre focusing on our spiritual state.
Spiritual health matters. Like exercise for the body or mindfulness for the mind, youâve got to work on your soul. It impacts everythingâhow you connect with God, your mental toughness, and ride lifeâs highs and lows.
You need to anchor yourself. Prayer, fasting, worshipâthese are your tools. Theyâre what keep you grounded in Godâs truth. They guide you through the good and, more importantly, through the bad.
Prayer: Itâs your lifeline to God. Direct access. You talk, He listens. Itâs how you get peace and direction. If Jesus made time for it (Luke 5:16), you should too.
Fasting: This strips away the distractions. It puts the focus on God and says, "You matter more than my physical needs."
Worship: Itâs not just for Sunday. Itâs a daily habit. Praise through music, scripture, or service shifts your focus from you to Him. And that changes everything.
Faith isnât just something you believe inâitâs something you do. âFaith without works is deadâ (James 2:17). Youâve got to live it. When your spiritual life is on point, peace and joy start showing up, even when lifeâs falling apart. Renewal happens in the quiet momentsâprayer, scripture, and reflection (Psalm 23:3).
Youâre going to have both highs and lows. Some days, God feels close. Other days, He feels distant. Thatâs normal. The trick is to keep going when youâre in the valley. Keep praying. Keep seeking. Growth happens in silence. When the highs hit, soak it up. Use that momentum to push forward. Remember, âThose who hope in the Lord will renew their strengthâ (Isaiah 40:31).
Get your spiritual state right, and good things happen. Galatians 5:22-23 calls them the fruit of the Spiritâlove, joy, peace, and the rest. Peace comes from handing your worries over to God. Joy? Itâs deeper than happiness. Itâs rooted in God, not your circumstances.
Here are some practical steps you can take to strengthen your spiritual state:
Pray every day. Make it a habit. Morning, nightâwhenever works. But do it.
Practice gratitude. Stop. Reflect. Thank God for the good. It shifts your focus from whatâs wrong to whatâs right.
Worship often. Doesnât have to be a full-blown service. Music, scripture, serviceâfind your way to praise Him daily.
Read the Word. Dive in. Let scripture guide you.
Reflection:
Whereâs your spiritual state right now? What needs work?
What discipline keeps you most connected to God?
How can you bring more worship and gratitude into your daily routine?
Application:
This week, pick one disciplineâprayer, scripture, or worshipâand focus on it. Watch how it changes your connection with God and your overall well-being.
Keep your spiritual state healthy. Itâs the key to experiencing Godâs peace and joy, no matter the season. Seek Him every day, and He will keep renewing your soul.
Thanks for reading. As always, in Christ, engage, adapt, and overcome.
